This is a tape which you’ll either love or hate it all
depends on what you think about floor work. Some folks have said
that this tape is "all" floor work. Actually, you don’t
start the floor work until 17 minutes into AL5, and you stay
down there for about ½ hour. Nonetheless, this is an EXCELLENT
tape for your butt and legs. The ab work is pretty good,
too, but there’s only about 6-7 minutes of it. Cardio-wise,
you won’t find a whole lot here, although the pace in the
first portion of the tape is pretty fast. Some of these floor
work moves are somewhat difficult to describe, so bear with me.
OK let’s get going.
The warm-up for AL5 is about 10 minutes and there’s not
much stretching. However, there’s a lot of different
things in this warm-up that aren’t in other tapes. You
start with punching (hooks, upper cuts, straight
punches), some stepping moves, dip + jab,
a little footwork, then jumping jacks followed
by single-leg jumping jacks. Back to some jabs,
1-arm speedbag, and good old 3 jabs + punch side-to-side.
Now do the heel-toe step alternating your arms over your head,
and several sets of alternating side knee raises.
This transitions into many sets of "regular" knee
raises and the pulling front knee raises. Cross-the-body
punches (both sides) and side knee raise/crunch (both
pretty fast) come next, then some straight punching.
Time to stretch, but there’s not much of it mostly arms
and shoulders. Jog in place for a bit, then do double
front knee raises. Now do 4 front knee raises on
each side for a few sets. Here comes the only kicking in the
entire tape: step forward + front kick, followed
by step + roundhouse kick. You’ll do
this on both sides, not too many reps. Now Billy does some
different things that are hard to explain I personally don’t
like them but the music is really good at this point! Now it’s
time to hit the floor (again, you’re about 17 minutes
in to the tape).
The first portion of the floor work is "standard" stuff
from all fours, you’ll do back kicks,
side leg lift with the knee bent (possibly called the "dog
at the fire hydrant move", if you get my drift), roundhouse
kicks, kick to the back then kick to the side, the hamstring
kick (leg bent at knee, push heel to ceiling), and circles.
Still on all fours, do straight rear leg lifts on
both sides. Then a different kind of leg lift you
leg is straight and out to the side. Lift it, leading with your
heel (your toes are aligned with your waist). Repeat for the
other side. Now lie down on your side.
Keeping your body straight (this is hard there’s a tendency
to stick your butt out), lift your top leg for
several sets. Hold it up high, then do more lifts from that higher
position. Now bend your top leg at the knee, bringing your foot
near your torso, and lift the bottom leg. This
is incredible for your inner thigh you will
really feel it. Now rotate the foot on your bottom leg so your
toes are pointed up and do some more lifts again, great inner
thigh work. Still lying on your side, lift the top leg straight
up, and bring the bottom leg up to meet it. This will work both
your legs and your abs. With the top leg still straight up, lift
the bottom leg a few inches from the floor. Lower the top leg
to meet the bottom leg. You’ll do several sets of all of
these moves. Then switch sides and repeat the entire sequence
for the opposite leg.
Lie flat on your stomach, stretched out. Lift
one leg, foot flexed this is great for your butt.
Hold it, squeeze it, and keep it high. Then lift it some more
from that higher position. Repeat for the other leg.
Lie flat on your back. Lift up your
torso, supporting your body on your shoulders, palms
of your hands, and your heels. Your butt and hamstrings will
be mega-tight. Now lift that pelvis. Several sets. Still in
this same position (heels, shoulders, and palms on the floor
and nothing else), lift one leg straight up and hold it. Ouch.
Now push it upward. Repeat for the other leg.
Still on your back, lift one leg straight up, sit up, and bring
both arms (straight) over to meet it. Lower that leg, and repeat
for the other leg. Do several sets of these great for the abs.
Now it’s time to practice for your next trip to the ob-gyn:
still on your back, spread your legs wide apart in a "V".
Bring them together, then lower them, over and
over for several sets. Lower the legs, still in the "V",
and slightly lift them like a pulse. Now you’ll do 3-level
V-leg lifts. Starting with legs apart, lift them up
a little, then a little further, then together. Many sets. Now
bring both legs straight up at a right angle to your body and
squeeze tight. This is one of the best parts of the tape, because
Billy tells you "1 more set", and then he says, "I
lied. Do another set."
You’re 45 minutes into the tape and it’s
time for abs. Start with crunches with
your ankles crossed, knees bent, and crunch up. Now with both
legs straight and together, lift them up at
a right angle to your body, then push them out and forward,
keeping them off the floor. Several sets. With legs still at
a right angle to the body, reach up and try to touch your toes.
Now Billy has you do some "regular" sit-ups,
where you push up from your elbows and bring your legs up, knees
bent. Time to sit up and do a little bit of lower ab
work the "standard" stuff. Pull the knees
tight to the chest, lift one leg, pull that knee into your chest
for several "heartbeats", then hold
it. Repeat for the other leg. Still sitting up, "walk" forward
and backward using your butt cheeks this is REALLY hard to explain
but it’s not hard to do.
You’re done with the floor and there’s only about
10 minutes left in the tape. Stand up and do some easy jabs,
both arms. A few upper cuts, then hooks.
Now do hooks, and step and turn around again, kind of hard to
explain. Time to cool down. Stretch your arms and neck. Now assume
a good squat position and hold it for 1
full minute, most of the time with your eyes closed.
You’ll end with 2 flamingo moves: supported
on 1 leg, hold the other leg straight out to the side (repeat
for the other side). Then supported on 1 leg, lift the other
leg straight out to the front.
The music in this tape is wonderful! I had it all written down,
but now I can’t find it, but I think you’ll enjoy
it. Shellie, Debi, Michelle (TQ), and Irene are in this tape.
