I got AL8 today and watched it for the first time. I like it
a lot. It's full of energy and fun. Shellie, Debbie, Nasheem,
Taeboqueen (Michele), Michelle, and JulieAnne (behind the screen)
are in it. It is one of the most aerobic advanced tapes I have
seen. The first half hour just flies from one move to the next.
There is no floor work, some standing ab work and balancing,
and several new fun moves -- one, that almost nobody gets (except
for you know who) and Billy stops it after two sets by saying
that's one to practice at home. Billy is really silly on this
tape. You can tell that he is enjoying himself. At the 34-minute
point, a strange thing happens -- Billy leaves in the middle
of the move. After several sets of that move, Shellie just takes
over. She is such a trooper. You can barely hear her because
she is using the microphone she usually uses, but she just jumps
in and tells people to jazz up the move and then to walk it out.
Then Billy comes flying back in after about 2 minutes (maybe
he needed a bathroom break?). Shellie looks so relieved! Billy
starts the cool down early and then he suddenly stops, saying
he can't stop with the song that was currently playing (I don't
know the name, but it's on several of his tapes and it's a lively
good one). He then makes everyone do an ab exercise and run in
place until the song ends, before continuing with the cool down.
The tape is shorter than most, only 54 minutes. I'll give you
another preview after I do the tape. I can't wait to do it, because
it looks like so much fun.
I did AL8 this morning. I liked it as much as I thought I would
from previewing it the other day. It is really a fun tape, kind
of like AL2 and AL4. There are many new moves, one of which will
take me weeks of practice to get -- the alternating from side
to side 3 punch and knee raise move. I can't figure out where
the extra knee raises fit in. Billy takes off in the middle because
his microphone appears to have a short. I love watching Shellie
trying to improvise though. She makes this one face that reminds
of the scene in Dirty Dancing when Jennifer Grey has to improvise
doing latin dancing on a stage. Billy lifts Michelle (not
TBQ) over his head in one balance moves and she holds her balance.
She looks so pleased with herself and everyone congratulates
her. In sum, this is a great tape. It will become one of my favorite
tapes (once I get that one move down) along with AL2 and AL4.
