BL1 is a must have work-out for anyone wanting
an intermediate format because it offers floor at the end. It
is an overall good work-out though it goes into intense stretching
without a warm-up in the beginning and lacks any stretching at
the end. Billy reminds folks to exhale during many moves. The
music is stimulating enough and the variety of moves keeps
it flowing. -- Barb
Eventually, I'll add a few more reviews on this
tape, maybe even an in depth review. I'll add my 2 cents
on the tape. This tape was one of my favorites for a long
time for many reasons: 1) because it was the first live
tape available to me; I received it as a birthday gift,
and needed the variety of a new tape, so I did this tape for
about 3 months straight, combined with the studio basic. 2)
it could very well be labeled and INTERMEDIATE level tape. It's
a good transitional tape from the basic tapes to the advanced
tape. The pace is alot quicker than some
of the basic tapes, but not by far the fastest paced tape available.
It is definetly a step up from the studio basic, and after doing
it for a month or a few weeks, one could be quite ready to tackle
the studio advanced tape. If you only have the studio 4
pack, this would be a great introduction to the live series. The
music here is pretty good, and the moves are pretty good moves. The
other great thing about this video as an advanced tape primer
is that there is a short segment of floor work (including some
ab work/butt work) at the end - so you get a quick warm up, a
fast paced cardio session, then an intro to floor work, sort
of a mini version of the longer work found in the advanced tapes. This
is the only basic live video so far to contain floor work. I'd
highly recommend this as a stepping stone. The other nice
thing is this video has a really good Tai Chi cooldown. It's
very relaxing.
This video is also the first video TQ (Taeboqueen,
Michele) appears in. She is definetly changed compared
to her "pumpkin photo" (the one of her in the orange
outfit, her before photo) but she's not quite the Taeboqueen
we would recognize now. It is an interesting tape to see
the transitional phase that she is in, and others in the video. Through
the rest of the live series, you can watch Michele's progress,
along with seeing changes in Shellie, Jasmine, and other regulars. It
is very motivating to watch these people change(quickly for some)
over time, just due to Tae Bo.
