This is an intermediate cardio level Basic workout.
The opening music is very motivating and makes you really want
to get moving. It has a good warm-up period but a short cool-down
period. At the beginning of the workout, there is a 5 1/2-minute
floor work segment for the glutes. This tape has no balancing
moves in it.
The Warm-up: This workout has
a 6 1/2-minute warm-up starting out with stepping
side to side, upper-cuts from horse-stance position then changing
to straight punches, alternating side upper-cuts turning the
hips, upper-torso shift, side stretches with side lunges (a few
on each side then alternating arms), stepping side to side again,
stretches for the neck - half circles, right to left, forward
and back; shoulder stretches - shrugging in a circular motion
and leaning left, center, and right; single jabs on each side,
jumping jacks, stretching for the hips and hamstrings in a lunge
position and a few push-ups, a variety of hamstring stretches
from the standing straddle position, and straddle stretches sitting
on the floor.
The Workout:
Floor work: (approx. 5 1/2 minutes) The
workout starts out on the floor with some butt-work including
back kick extensions, hydrants, roundhouse kicks, a modification
on the back-kick extensions where you hold the leg up and lift
it higher in small movements really focusing on the glutes, and
leg circles.
It's time to get up off the floor!
The workout continues with a few sets of flies.
Alternating left and right hooks during the
hips each time.
Stepping side to side while working the arms
in and out bent at the elbow.
Arms moving side to side (slicing sword arms)
and step-in knee raises changing to step-in front kicks.
Jumping jacks
Side knee-raises, a few sets on each side.
Jabs on each side.
Single-arm speed bags from a horse-stance.
Straight punches from a horse-stance.
Left knee-raise and right front kick combo,
then switching to right knee-raise and left front kick. These
seem like they go on forever!
2-punch combo and 3-punch combo w/knee raise,
a few sets on each side
The Cool-down: This workout has
a short 1 1/2-minute cool-down. It starts out
with arm circles, stretching standing straddle splits for the
hamstrings, and finishes with the cat-stance move.
