This tape could be called the "thighbuster" tape,
and is a tape that really focuses on your quad muscles and legs -
you do get quite a bit of punching action too. It
is a fast paced basic video, with some walk it out time in between
moves, but it doesn't really slow down too much. The warm
up here consists of the normal head rolls, side to side
reaches, but doesn't have any streching - Billy saves that for
the end.
After you spend about 5 minutes warming up, you
move right into a 2 punch combo. Then a 3
punch combo on your right, then to jabs (while
jumping), some corner 2 corner work, double
time corner 2 corner work, and then you repeat all of
this on your left side. After this nice combination of arm
work, you move into the beginning of quad work here
in this tape. This move is a bit hard to describe, but
I'll try my best. You squat, putting
all your weight on the back of your left leg, while moving your
right leg back (touching your toe to the ground) then forward
(touching your heel to the ground) then you move your leg back
again, followed by a knee raise, and repeat. Billy
has you doing this one for quite awhile, and just when your legs
start to burn, and you're wishing for a break or a turn to the
other side, he has you do some more quad work on
the same leg! Now you do a "push/pull" move,
where you stand with your weight still on the left leg, and you
move your right leg back and forward, while pulling and pushing
with your left arm. You do this one for QUITE sometime,
and I always end up saying something nasty to the TV during this
segment... Finally you are done on this side, only to repeat
the whole ordeal on the right side. GREAT quad work here
in these 2 combos.
Now it's on to some knee raise combos.
There's not too much kicking in the video, and what follows is
about it. First you do a knee raise + punch combo,
then a knee raise + sidekick combo, of course,
on both sides. After the knee raise work, you move into
some "circle jabs" (just short,
forward jabs where you use your shoulders and sort of "circle" while
you punch). Now that you've got your whole body going,
it's time to do a few kicks - so you move into
the frontkick/backkick combination. These
are done relatively quickly, but not as fast as an advanced tape
would go. Better for focusing on your form here. Remember,
Billy tells you to always "look" where you
are punching or kicking, which means when you kick to
the back, you need to turn your head and look where you kick,
don't just keep your face forward! This takes some practice
to keep your balance while doing, but like Billy
says - you never want to kick someplace you aren't looking, because
you could hurt someone in the process!
Arm flies are one of my favorite
moves, and next we get to do some of these. Billy tells
you to really sit on the back of your legs for these, and he
does quite a few sets. When he alternates to the other
side, he changes it up a bit, by asking you to raise your arms
high instead of just pushing your arms in and out. Instead
you do; arms out, arms up, arms out, arms up,
while moving your leg. Now you do some more quad
work, followed by a squat/front kick combination
done for 3-4 sets. The cool down consists of mostly stretching,
which is good - but that's about all it covers. And it's
very short. Only about 1 minute or so...
Regulars appearing are (TQ, Shellie, Debi, Jasmine,
Irene...) The music on this tape is particularly fun - it has
a good list of songs I like, that are upbeat and motivating. "Tonight
I'm Dreaming" by 50/50, "I say a Little Prayer" by
Gloria Gaynor, "Maria" by Ricky Martin, and "Shake
your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band.
