I’ve only done this new 8-minute 2 or 3 times, and I like it a little better than the original one. You get more of a warm-up and cool-down, and the music is more interesting. It’s not quite as intense as the original, but it still moves along at a pretty good clip. Like the original, there’s not a lot of kicking in this one, but there is a bigger variety of moves.
The warm-up for this tape is good, considering how short the workout is. You begin the workout with a fly, followed by cross-the-body punches on both side. Then straight punches from the horse stance, uppercuts, hooks, and more uppercuts. Two sets of knee raises on both sides, then alternating front knee raises, then walk it out. More punching jabs on both sides, then alternate the jabs. Now a move you see in several advanced tapes while you’re doing straight punches, do alternating front knee raises, first slow, then fast. A few sets of jumping jacks + jabs, jog in place, then double speedbag, both sides. Now do the grapevine knee raise, then a regular grapevine, then add a double knee raise on either end of the grapevine. Time to kick 2 sets of knee raise + side kick. The pace on these kicks is slower than in the original 8-minute. You’ll end with some quad work front squat (hold it!), turn to one side in a lunge (hold it again!), come back to the center, and turn to the other side for another lunge (yes, hold this one, too!) The cool-down is sufficient nothing unusual.
Shellie, Julianne, and Michelle are in this tape. The music is good and features "Happy Radio", according to the credits on the tape.
